The selection of good non-white skins is just really small. One of the first things I did in SL was go freebie-hunting, and I found a free box of skins in various ethnicities. I'm an extremely pale freckled redhead in 1st life and I wanted to do something different, so I tried on a dark Asian skin, and it was kind of cute, and after a month or so I honestly couldn't envision my avatar as having a different ethnicity. Only problem is, it's a bit... er, blocky and polygonal, and I'd love to find a better one-- but I can't! The only Asian skins I've seen are really pale, and it's hard to find any to begin with. I may just be looking in the wrong places, but my experience has been that some ethnicities are hard to find.

And it's a shame, because if more people see good available diverse skins, they'll be more likely to get them because, hey, they're cute. I think people will get whatever they think is cute, and if the only cute skins people make are white, then people are going to get the white skins. In 1st life you don't have to be white to be cute, but in 2nd life if you're looking to be cute you'll have a harder time being non-white.

Hello,

The virtual classroom looks simply amazing. I am a masters student in temple university, philadelphia. My major is management information systems. I am working with my professor Dr.younjin in developing a classroom like this. Could you please help us out in setting up something like this.
We would need a traditional blackboard as well as option for video streaming. Also your idea of distributing the lecture material is wonderful.
If you donot mind sharing this can you please guide us setting this up .

Thanks a lot,
Venkata

LMAO. Jonathan, I did the exact same thing. But look on the bright side, since we are all doing it, we must be on the right track, no?

For some great fashion advice, try Makeda Cole. For example, she recently did an excellent review of hair at http://modafashionsl.blogspot.com/2007/10/gimme-head-with-hair.html

Mana Mana was a hit before the Muppets, It was used regularly at the beginning of the Dean Martin Show. Unfortunately I can't seem to dig this one hit wonder out of the internet because everything seems to point back to the Muppet's version
Except for a reference to a Swedish scat band who's name is not given I haven't come up with anything on the original
has your research turned up anything?

Hi Angela,

Haven't visited for ages - but wow, whenever I do I find something amazing! I may be doing an article on digital narrative sometime soon, so will get in touch again if I'm going to quote any of this. Enjoy your wrap party :)

I enjoy reading gender articles for I am transgender, M to F. I think it's amazing how we both learn and are taught to stereotype from an early age, but little do we realise we ALL have characteristics of both genders within us. Profound.

just when you think you have an original thought in your head you google 'heterotopia' and 'second life' to make sure no one has already had that idea and you find Angelina Thomas' blog.

Sorry, I'm being overly dramatic and thanks for the tip on the 'metaxis,' will definitely be used to inform my thesis on the built environment of second life. I'll cite you of course.

I'm going to seriously think about heterotopias for a while (by the way have you read Delaney's 'Trouble on Triton: An ambiguous heterotopia'?) and if you're interested I can keep you posted on whether or not I come up with anything.
